Workshop for All Beings

Description

Workshop for All Beings is a Polish ecological association devoted to protecting wild nature, based in Bystra in the Beskid Śląski mountains. It began in the mid-1980s as an informal group and gained legal status in 1989, following the philosophy of deep ecology. It works to preserve valuable natural areas, protect biodiversity, and safeguard natural cycles and ecosystems, independent of any political or religious institution.

The organization campaigns for the Białowieża Forest, seeking full national-park protection for it, and has worked to protect the Rospuda Valley and to ban hunting of large predators in Poland and Slovakia. It opposes coal power plants and campaigns against burning forests for biomass, working toward a shift to renewable, efficient energy. It identifies and protects ecological migration corridors, training road engineers and pushing for wildlife crossings.

It pursues both local interventions and systemic change, engaging with the Polish parliament and the European Parliament, and cooperates with scientists and organizations worldwide through international coalitions. It runs workshops and training programs on nature and climate protection, including courses for guardians of valuable natural areas and climate guardians. It also publishes a magazine and other educational materials.
