Vlaamse Vereniging van Journalisten

Description

VVJ, the Vlaamse Vereniging van Journalisten, is a professional association for Flemish journalists in Belgium. Its secretariat, the Huis van de Journalist, is located in Brussels. The association is run by a small staff team.

A general secretary, who is also a jurist, leads its political lobbying work in Belgium. This secretary keeps in close contact with counterparts in Europe through the European Federation of Journalists. A financial officer manages invoices, payments and part of the bookkeeping and office operations.

A staff member handles general administration for members and prospective members. A communications officer is responsible for VVJ’s outreach and communication work.

VVJ has a related organization, AVBB, that is registered separately. VVJ also works alongside the French-speaking journalists’ union AJP as its counterpart representing journalists in the other language community of Belgium.
