Transparency International Nederland
Description
Transparency International Nederland is the Dutch chapter of Transparency International, an international non-governmental organization that works to fight corruption worldwide. It marked its 24th anniversary in 2023, indicating it was founded around 1999. It recently relocated from Amsterdam to The Hague to be closer to the political heart of the Netherlands.
The organization works on themes such as whistleblowing, lobbying regulation, defence and security, sustainability, health, oil and gas, education, politics and government, the private sector and sport. It also maintains a channel for reporting corruption. It runs a Business Integrity Forum for corporate members and offers individual membership. It publishes reports and policy papers, and provides training, including online training to help employees report wrongdoing safely.
It advocates on issues such as tax avoidance, anti-money laundering, political integrity and whistleblower protection. It has written to government ministers on integrity in cabinet formation. It is registered as an ANBI charity with the Dutch tax authority and is listed in the Chamber of Commerce. It publishes its statutes, governance code, complaints procedure, donation policy and annual reports for transparency.
It also takes part in the wider Transparency International movement’s global strategy and international projects, such as trade-compliance cooperation among European chapters.
