Description

abgeordnetenwatch.de is a project of the non-profit association Parlamentwatch e.V., based in Hamburg. The platform is aimed at citizens as well as at politics and the public. It makes information about politics and parliaments accessible, for example on what members of parliament earn on the side, who lobbies whom, and who finances the political parties.

Through the platform, users can send inquiries to elected representatives. The moderation of these inquiries follows the association’s own code of conduct. Ahead of elections, the association also runs the ‘Kandidierendencheck’, a tool for checking candidates. The organization’s chronicle goes back to the year 2004.

It is led by board members Boris Hekele and Gregor Hackmack and by authorized managing directors Léa Briand Gau and Annika Heintz-Saad. The person responsible under the Medienstaatsvertrag is Martin Reyher. A board of trustees (Kuratorium) is also attached to the organization.

Its work is funded through donations. It also discloses its financing, its values and stance, and its annual and impact reports. Data protection is handled by the external service provider datenschutz nord GmbH, acting as data protection officer.
