Transparency International Canada

Description

Transparency International Canada is the Canadian national chapter of the global Transparency International movement against corruption. It works to combat corruption and build a culture of integrity across Canadian government, politics, business and civil society. It does this through research, policy development, capacity-building and advocacy.

Its stated vision is a transparent, participatory and fair Canada in which public and private life is free from corruption. It argues Canada has become a haven for money laundering, or snow washing, losing ground on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index. The organization runs a Legal Committee, the Canadian Integrity Award, the Business Integrity Forum, an Inclusive Service Delivery Africa programme, and work on beneficial ownership transparency, alongside research, publications and an annual reporting cycle.

Its 2024 to 2030 strategic plan sets four objectives: stopping the flow of dirty money, driving integrity in business, protecting the public’s resources and securing integrity in politics. It works with government, civil society, academia, business, media, the wider Transparency International movement and the public. It describes itself as committed to factual accuracy, empirical rigour, transparency, accountability and independence from donors and partners.

Transparency International Canada is based in Toronto, Ontario, and is a registered charity.
