Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection

Description

The Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection is a regional organization that supports and protects whistleblowers.

It brings together activists, journalists and experts to strengthen legal rights for whistleblowers and to help them seek justice. The Coalition informs the public about the role whistleblowers play in improving transparency and accountability in government and business. It investigates and helps publicize whistleblower disclosures, and it works with media to research whistleblower stories. It also acts as a platform for sharing expertise among NGOs, policy-makers, activists and researchers.

The Coalition is made up of more than 35 NGOs and other groups from 15 countries across Southeast and East Europe. Its members work on freedom of expression, anti-corruption, investigative journalism, human rights and media independence. The Coalition was founded at a two-day meeting in Belgrade on November 9 to 10, 2015.

It operates across the Southeast European region, with member organizations in countries including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia, plus regional and international partners.
