Whistleblower Organizations United States

Description

Whistleblowers of America is a nonprofit based in Pensacola, Florida. Its mission is to foster whistleblower mental health and resilience through peer support. It aims to provide justice, courage, integrity and sympathy for anyone who has suffered retaliation for whistleblowing. Its stated vision is to unite people in speaking truth to power, because everyone deserves a safe place to work.

The organization defines whistleblowers broadly, as any employee, including military personnel, who sees wrongdoing and speaks out. It describes the toll that retaliation, such as termination, suspension, demotion, harassment, blacklisting or a hostile work environment, can take on them. Its main service is peer support for people who have experienced workplace retaliation because of whistleblowing. This is offered alongside a Whistleblower Mental Health Advisory Consortium made up of mental health professionals.

The organization also offers on-site help through a VA-accredited claims agent who assists veterans with filing claims. It relies on volunteers, including legal, social media and fundraising volunteers.

Whistleblowers of America operates alongside the Workplace Promise Institute and Workplace Promise Chamber. It is registered as a nonprofit and participates in the Combined Federal Campaign.
