Sciences Citoyennes

Description

Sciences Citoyennes is a French association, based in Paris, that works on the democratization of science and on research ethics. Its published areas of activity, as listed on its own site, include citizen conventions, geoengineering, public debate on science, and a World Forum on Science and Democracy. It also works on research policy and on science without growth as a model.

A second strand of its work covers what it calls the ethics of research. This includes conflicts of interest, expertise, lobbying, the manipulation of living organisms, post-truth, responsibility, and support for whistleblowers, described on its site as engaged researchers and lanceurs d’alerte. The association also promotes what it terms a third sector of scientific knowledge, covering science shops, participatory research and open knowledge.
