RISE Project

Description

RISE Project is an independent community of journalists in Romania. It investigates organised crime and regional corruption. The team has worked together since 2012.

It is a member of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Network, one of the largest investigative journalism organisations in the world. It cooperates regularly with media organisations from other countries on cross-border investigations into organised crime and large-scale corruption. It has contributed to major international projects including the Panama Papers, Pandora Papers, SwissLeaks and the Russian Laundromat.

RISE Project works with large volumes of data, using in-depth techniques for analysis and visualisation. Every journalistic piece goes through a rigorous verification process before publication.

Its journalists have received numerous international awards for investigative journalism. These include the Investigative Reporters and Editors Award, the Global Shining Light Award, and the Daniel Pearl Award for Outstanding International Reporting. The organisation is based in Bucharest.
