Open Knowledge Finland
Description
Open Knowledge Finland (OKFI) promotes the opening and use of open knowledge. It works to advance the development of an open society in Finland. It is a registered not for profit association, founded in 2012. It forms part of the wider international Open Knowledge network.
Its membership includes individuals, companies and other organizations active in the Finnish field of open access to knowledge. Beyond its formal membership, OKFI also functions as a broad network of people and projects related to open knowledge. Taking part in its activities does not require joining the association itself. People can get involved directly with ongoing projects.
The organization is a registered association in Finland, based in Helsinki. It is led by an executive director and a chair. OKFI’s work sits within the broader open knowledge movement, connecting people and organizations who want to open up data, information and knowledge for public benefit in Finland.
