Vouliwatch
Description
Vouliwatch is a civic organization in Greece that monitors the work of the Greek Parliament and its members. It describes its mission as a fight for accountability and transparency against anything that undermines democracy and the rule of law.
The organization lets citizens submit questions directly to members of the Greek parliament and to Greek members of the European Parliament. It tracks how fully each political party answers these questions and publishes response rates by party. It also tracks laws and votes in parliament and compares the policy positions of different parties.
Vouliwatch also publishes open data on parliament, including information on electoral districts and the political system, and it collects members of parliament’s asset declarations. Users can pick the topics that interest them and follow related publications in a personal feed.
The organization frames its work as part of a broader effort for democratic accountability, arguing that citizens should not remain indifferent or cynical about protecting democracy.
