European Wildlife

Description

European Wildlife is a pan-European nature conservation organization working to protect biological diversity across Europe.

It builds a network of non-state reserves in European countries, connected by biocorridors, to let plant and animal species migrate between well-preserved regions. It works with the public, scientific institutes, government bodies and companies to connect different actors around conservation goals. It plants trees and promotes afforestation on land unsuited for farming, to absorb greenhouse gases and reduce the impact of climate change on European biodiversity. It also reintroduces herds of large herbivores to open landscapes to help restore biodiversity and adapt ecosystems to a changing climate.

Its flagship project is the European Centre of Biodiversity, a large non-state nature reserve planned in Central Europe intended to reconnect wildlife populations across Northern, Eastern and Southern Europe. The organization was founded in 2008 by journalist Dalibor Dostal. It is headquartered in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic.
