350 Bay Area

Description

350 Bay Area is a grassroots climate activism organization working in the San Francisco Bay Area, inspired by 350.org but not legally connected to it.

It mobilizes people as climate activists, organizing, demonstrating, lobbying and educating to push policymakers toward action on the climate crisis. Its mission is to build a grassroots climate movement in the Bay Area and beyond to eliminate carbon pollution and achieve a clean energy future with racial, economic and environmental justice. It centers frontline communities and works to speed the shift to clean energy, clean buildings and carbon-free transportation.

Its methods include recruiting, training and supporting volunteer activists, and building political power to influence climate policy. The group formed in 2012 out of local organizing inspired by 350.org, and is associated with several other local 350 groups in the Bay Area region.
