Description

DokZentrum ansTageslicht.de is a German documentation centre for investigative journalism. It is run from Hamburg by Prof. Dr. Johannes Ludwig. He formerly taught at the Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg, until 2021.

Unlike traditional media, the project aims to keep topics in public memory over the long term. It publishes previously unknown information. It also documents how stories continue to develop after they are first reported.

Students from the Hamburg university have taken part in the project over the years. The site names contributors to its documentation of the Wächterpreis der Tagespresse journalism award for 2019 and 2020. It also credits a webmaster and administrator, and a translator for material on cabin air quality on aircraft.

Its documented subject areas include investigative journalism methods, cronyism and mismanagement, organised crime and cartels, abuse of power and corruption, deception and fraud, and whistleblowers. Other areas are finance and banking, bureaucracy, the judiciary, scientific misconduct, working conditions and health. It also covers aviation cabin air, child welfare, policing and right-wing extremism, religious fundamentalism, housing costs, undercover reporting, and the media system itself.

The organisation is supported by an associated Förderverein, a support association. The site was first published online in April 2016.
