Abraji, the Brazilian Association for Investigative Journalism, is a membership organization for journalists. It offers courses for reporters and organizes an annual International Congress of Investigative Journalism. People can join as members, make donations, or request information and interviews through the organization.

The organization builds practical tools that support public-interest reporting. Achados e Pedidos, developed with Transparência Brasil, gathers thousands of freedom-of-information requests and the government responses to them, and has tracked environmental data since 2020 with Fiquem Sabendo. Publique-se is a search engine that indexes court cases involving political candidates and public officials. CruzaGrafos helps journalists investigate ties between companies, politicians, payments, and public works contracts.

Abraji works to protect journalists from threats and legal harassment. With the Federal Council of the Bar Association, it offers basic legal advice to press workers facing online threats and harassment. Since 2021 it has monitored gender-based attacks against women journalists and communicators.

Its Programa Tim Lopes documents the history of journalists killed in Brazil and investigates recent homicides of press professionals and communicators. The Ctrl+X project tracks lawsuits filed by politicians, companies, and public figures that seek to remove online content or pressure journalists and media outlets.
