Finanzwende Recherche gGmbH is a non-profit subsidiary of the German civic movement Bürgerbewegung Finanzwende, based in Berlin. It works as a think tank that researches financial markets and the financial industry. Its aim is to give civil society a counterweight to the powerful German finance lobby, which commissions its own studies with little independent scrutiny.

The organization examines topics such as the role of financial investors, greenwashing in sustainable finance, consumer protection, and the influence of financial lobbying. It publishes reports, studies and analyses for the public and for policymakers, and proposes solutions and alternatives. It runs a blog with contributions from outside experts, and a media library with recordings of its webinars and a video series on financialization.

Finanzwende Recherche offers whistleblowers protected, anonymous ways to contact it. It discloses information about its team, funding and governance as part of the Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft. It also receives fines and settlement payments assigned by public prosecutors and courts as a source of support. The organization is a charitable subsidiary of Bürgerbewegung Finanzwende, and is part of the international Finance Watch network.
