Cyprus Integrity Forum

Description

The Cyprus Integrity Forum is a Cypriot organisation working against corruption and for transparency. It was initiated in 2010 and formally registered in 2011. It describes itself as the leading institution in Cyprus for the fight against corruption and the promotion of transparency. It says it is independent, non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit.

It collaborates with other organisations in Cyprus, elsewhere in Europe and in the United States. The Forum works to raise public awareness of corruption in everyday life. It aims to improve the content and quality of public and corporate governance across all types of business. It also works to ensure that the state and government bodies act transparently and ethically.

It presents itself as a primary source of information for both government and the public on corruption and reform issues in Cyprus. It works with the Cypriot government and other organisations to reduce the discretion of officials, strengthen institutions, and support reform and good governance in key policy areas. Its stated mission is to strengthen society by raising awareness of the impact of corruption and encouraging citizens to take part in fighting it, while improving public and private governance through transparency, integrity and accountability.

Its core values include transparency, accountability, integrity, solidarity, courage, justice and democracy. Its strategic goals include limiting and where possible eliminating corruption, carrying out research and studies, and taking action to prevent and discourage illegal practices. It also aims to submit proposals to public authorities on combating corruption, raise awareness among politicians, officials, media and the public, and mobilise professional, social, economic and political circles around ethical behaviour. The organisation is based in Nicosia, Cyprus.
