CERES Community Environment Park

Description

CERES Community Environment Park is a not-for-profit environmental education centre and social enterprise hub in Brunswick East, Victoria, Australia.

It runs environmental education programs and workshops on sustainability, gardening and climate change, alongside an urban farm and community gardens. It also operates social enterprises including a cafe, a grocery, a plant nursery, a bakery, a bike repair shed and food and firewood delivery services. Its stated purpose is protecting and enhancing the natural environment through information and education about human impacts on it.

CERES was established in 1982 on a former rubbish dump on land now owned by Merri-Bek City Council. It operates from four locations and is governed by CERES EARTH Ltd, a company limited by guarantee run by a voluntary board. It employs around 160 staff along with many volunteers.
