Center for the Study of Democracy and Governance
Description
The Center for the Study of Democracy and Governance is a civil society organization working to improve democracy and governance in Albania.
It generates evidence based research, monitors public attitudes, and promotes informed citizen engagement in policy making. Its work runs through a Democracy Program, a Governance Program and a Security Program. It is independent, non-partisan and not-for-profit.
A major focus area is whistleblowing. CSDG tracks the implementation of Albania’s law on whistleblower protection, publishes commentary, articles and reports on the subject, and organizes International Whistleblower Day events. It takes part in the Southeast Europe Coalition on Whistleblower Protection, meeting with partner organizations from the region on the topic.
Other focus areas include EU integration and justice reform, including monitoring of Albania’s Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime, known as SPAK. The organization produces policy papers, barometers, manuals and annual reports as part of this work, aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability across Albanian institutions.
