Environmental Organizations Canada

Description

The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, known as CAPE, is a Canadian charitable organization that works to protect human health by protecting the planet. It brings together physicians, health professionals and concerned citizens across Canada. CAPE was founded in 1993 and counts thousands of doctors and members of the public among its supporters.

CAPE mobilizes the voice of health professionals and scientific evidence to address the ecological and climate crises. It engages governments, leads campaigns, conducts research and speaks to the media on issues such as pesticides, fossil fuel advertising and greenwashing. It also educates physicians, other health professionals and the public about environmental health risks.

The organization works with partners across Canada and internationally to amplify its impact. It supports physicians in advocating for healthier ecosystems and has helped shape legislation on climate accountability, coal phase-outs and pesticide bans. CAPE is based in Toronto and also runs regional committees, including one focused on Quebec.
