Acción Ciudadana

Description

Acción Ciudadana is a civil society association in El Salvador that works on political reform, transparency and anti-corruption. It promotes accountability, the fight against corruption and impunity, and citizen participation in public life. Its stated vision is a stronger democratic system so the state serves the individual.

The association obtained legal personality on 24 October 2016 and is registered with the Ministry of Governance and Territorial Development. It monitors political parties, tracking party financing, internal party democracy and electoral processes. It also carries out institutional monitoring of impunity, public information and anti-corruption bodies, and publishes research, opinion pieces and a podcast on transparency.

Funding comes from membership dues and from managing donor-funded projects. Past cooperating partners have included USAID, the Open Society Foundations, the International Republican Institute, the Seattle International Foundation, the National Democratic Institute and the National Endowment for Democracy. The organization is based in San Salvador, El Salvador.
