Human Rights Organizations United Kingdom

Description

Womankind Worldwide is a UK-based feminist organization for women’s rights, founded in 1989. It works in solidarity with women’s rights organisations and movements, mainly in Africa and Asia, to change the world for women and girls. Rather than running its own programmes, it supports existing women’s movements with technical support, communications, shared learning, advocacy platforms and funding.

Its vision is a just world where the rights of all women are respected, valued and realised. Together with its partners, it works towards ending all forms of violence against women and girls, advancing women’s economic rights, and strengthening women’s participation and influence in decision-making. Its work is guided by feminist values, including inclusion, partnership, transparency and a commitment to learning from the women it works with.

Womankind currently focuses its partnerships in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Uganda and Zimbabwe, alongside work in other countries. Its programmes address issues such as gender-based violence, women’s economic rights, legal advocacy and women’s political participation and leadership.
