International Centre for Human Rights

The International Centre for Human Rights, or ICHR, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that promotes and defends human rights and democratic values.

Its group of activists campaigns against systematic human rights violations in Iran and neighbouring countries. It works to educate the public, raise awareness and gain international support for people who suffer unjust treatment by corrupt governments and dictatorships. It bases its work on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards.

The organization is based in Toronto, Canada, and was founded in October 2000 by Ardeshir Zarezadeh, a former political prisoner from Iran. It has advocated for sanctioning Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group, held rallies for the release of Iranian political prisoners, and given humanitarian awards to people defending the rights of Kurds and campaigning for justice for victims of the Guard Corps. It has also spoken out on mass killings of protesters in Iran, describing them as crimes against humanity requiring international intervention.
