Wildlife and Countryside Link

Description

Wildlife and Countryside Link, known as Link, is a coalition of charitable organisations working to conserve and protect wildlife and the countryside in England.

It brings together dozens of environmental and wildlife member organisations to campaign for the conservation of landscapes, wild animals, plants, habitats, rivers and seas. It develops and advocates policy on issues such as agriculture, animal welfare, water, invasive species, marine mammals and wildlife crime, producing policy papers, briefings and reports. It also runs an information management service so members can share resources and intelligence, and it works with politicians in Westminster to raise issues on their behalf.

Link began as Wildlife Link in 1980, taking over from two existing umbrella bodies, and merged with Countryside Link in 1990 to form the organisation as it exists today. It is led by a Board of Trustees and run day to day by a small secretariat. It is based in London and focuses on influencing UK national government, alongside sister Link organisations covering Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
