Integrity Fellowship and Sanctuary
Description
The Integrity Fellowship and Sanctuary is a charitable and educational organization that shelters whistleblowers and anti-corruption activists facing imminent danger. It was founded in 2022 and is based in Toronto, Canada. It provides a temporary safe haven for people who fight corruption publicly and lack access to the rule of law in their home countries.
Its programs run through three phases: recovery, regeneration and re-entry. Fellows receive safety and security support, legal advice, healthcare, and stipends for food and housing. They also take part in workshops, training and mentoring on running civil society organizations. The organization plans to place fellows at a Canadian university to build skills for their eventual return home.
Candidates come through referrals from recognized international anti-corruption organizations, and the board makes the final selection. The goal is for fellows to return to their home countries and continue their anti-corruption work, though some may be unable to go back. Its board and staff include experienced anti-corruption officials, lawyers and researchers from several countries.
