Transparency International France

Description

Transparency International France is the French chapter of the international Transparency International movement. Founded in 1995, it is one of the movement’s oldest national sections. The movement operates in more than a hundred countries. Its vision is a world where states, companies, civil society and individuals are free of corruption in all its forms, defined as the diversion of entrusted power for private gain.

The organization works through advocacy. It lobbies decision-makers to secure legislative change that strengthens transparency in public life and fights corruption and money laundering. It also engages in litigation against those who practice or facilitate corruption. It supports public and private actors, nationally and locally, in adopting best practices to prevent, detect and sanction corruption.

Its priorities include closing loopholes in the global financial system, reforming political financing, and preventing conflicts of interest. It also works on regulating lobbying, strengthening judicial independence, and expanding and protecting the status of whistleblowers. Through its Centre d’Assistance Juridique et d’Action Citoyenne, it receives and processes reports, including from whistleblowers. It keeps related personal data on secure servers for three years.

The organization is based in Paris. It is independent, non-governmental and non-profit.
