Description
Transparency International Deutschland e.V. is the German chapter of the worldwide Transparency International movement against corruption. It works across Germany to combat and reduce corruption effectively and sustainably, bringing together the state, business and civil society into coalitions. The organization is nonprofit and politically independent. It is built on the principles of integrity, accountability, transparency and civil-society participation.
It aims to raise public awareness of the harmful effects of corruption and to strengthen integrity systems. Its work spans many policy areas, including digitalization, development cooperation, healthcare, public finance, procurement and supply chains, criminal law, sport, defence, politics, political education and whistleblower protection. In whistleblower protection, it maintains dedicated contact points for people who want to report corruption.
It organizes through regional groups across German states and thematic working groups, and it accepts both active individual members and corporate members. It publishes a magazine called Scheinwerfer and contributes to the Corruption Perceptions Index. Governance runs through a board, an advisory council, a general assembly and an integrity commission. The organization publishes its financial statements and interest register for transparency. It is headquartered in Berlin.
