The Land Conservancy of British Columbia
Description
The Land Conservancy of British Columbia, known as TLC, is a non-profit charitable land trust working throughout British Columbia, Canada.
TLC protects habitat for plants, animals and natural communities, as well as properties with historical, cultural, scientific, scenic or recreational value. It acquires protective control of land and water through ownership or conservation covenants. It works in a non-confrontational, businesslike manner with partners across all levels of government, other agencies, businesses, community groups and individuals.
TLC is a democratic, membership-based organization governed by an elected volunteer board of directors, and it relies on members and volunteers to help maintain its operations. It was founded in 1997 and manages properties and conservation covenants across the province.
