The Climate Reality Project

Description

The Climate Reality Project is a nonprofit organization focused on climate change education and advocacy.

It trains volunteers, known as Climate Reality Leaders, to give public talks and run local advocacy events about the climate crisis, through its Climate Reality Leadership Corps. It hosts an annual global broadcast called 24 Hours of Reality that features speakers discussing the climate crisis and solutions. It campaigns against new fossil fuel projects and for the retirement of existing ones, and runs a Green Schools Campaign to help schools shift to renewable energy. It operates through branches and staff working in regions including Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, Australia and the Pacific, India, the United States and Canada.

It was formed in July 2011 through the consolidation of two earlier organizations, the Alliance for Climate Protection and The Climate Project, both founded in 2006 by former Vice President Al Gore, who chairs its board. It says it is active in many countries worldwide through a global network of volunteers and trained leaders.
