The Climate Group
Description
Climate Group is a nonprofit organisation working to drive fast climate action toward a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
It was founded in 2003 and launched in 2004, and it operates internationally with teams in the United Kingdom, where it is headquartered, the United States, Mexico, India, Brazil, the Netherlands, Japan and China. It builds large networks of businesses and subnational governments, holding them accountable for turning climate commitments into action, and it shares results to encourage wider adoption. It works with more than 650 businesses and close to 200 subnational governments worldwide.
It focuses on the systems with the highest emissions, including energy, transport, heavy industry and food, and works mainly with business leaders and government decision makers who shape market frameworks. It acts as secretariat to the Under2 Coalition, a network of state and regional governments committed to net zero emissions, and it runs programmes such as RE100, EP100 and EV100 to push companies toward renewable electricity, energy efficiency and electric vehicles. It also organises Climate Week NYC and other summits bringing together business, government and civil society.
Climate Group is a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales, and it also operates through legal entities in the United States, India, the Netherlands and China. It is funded by philanthropic donors, government and foundation grants, event sponsorship and membership and partnership income.
