The Centre for Public Integrity
Description
The Centre for Public Integrity is an independent research institute working to restore integrity to Australia’s democracy. It aims to prevent corruption, protect accountability institutions, limit executive power, and reduce the influence of money in politics. It is a registered research institute based in Australia.
The Centre convenes leading integrity experts to identify weaknesses and produce evidence-based policy solutions. Its board sets research priorities across four key areas. A research team works with expert fellows, including jurists, former statutory officeholders, academics and industry specialists. A research committee of academics oversees the quality of its output.
The Centre publishes research reports and submissions to parliamentary inquiries and consultations. Recent work has covered money in politics, government use of external consultants, and parliamentary staffing and privilege. It also comments publicly on integrity bodies such as Victoria’s anti-corruption commission, IBAC, and on cabinet transparency reforms.
The Centre engages policymakers, journalists and the public to promote dialogue on integrity issues. It positions itself as a trusted source of expertise, using media coverage and direct policy engagement to spread its research findings and shape reform.
