Description

The Tennessee Native Plant Society is a volunteer organization that conserves and celebrates the native plant communities of Tennessee through education.

It has no office, no growing facility and no paid staff; members volunteer their time and talents. Members range from professional and amateur botanists to people simply interested in Tennessee’s flora. The society educates the public about native plants and supports efforts to protect wild plant communities and their habitats.

Activities include field trips to observe native and rare species, monthly online seminars, a quarterly newsletter, and an annual conference with presentations and field trips. The society offers student and teacher scholarships for regional plant conferences and supports identification books such as Wildflowers of Tennessee and Tennessee Lichens. It also supports the online Tennessee and Kentucky Plant Atlas.

The Tennessee Native Plant Society was founded in 1977 and is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
