STOP Corrupt
Description
StopCorrupt is a non-profit association under Luxembourg law, constituted on 9 June 2009. It was the Luxembourg chapter of Transparency International until 30 June 2017. After that date its board decided to become fully autonomous, free of the constraints of belonging to an international network, and it now operates under the name StopCorrupt.
The association pursues a double aim. It works to improve the Luxembourg system in order to fight corruption and promote transparency in both the public and private sectors and ethics in politics. It also works to represent Luxembourg internationally, so as to improve the country’s external perception, highlighting its achievements and assets while countering misconceptions about it.
StopCorrupt receives numerous requests for assistance, including in connection with international studies and collaborative projects. It works to support both individuals and legal persons, such as companies and organisations, through dedicated services including a whistleblowing hotline. Private and public bodies place their trust in the association and support it materially or financially.
To safeguard its independence and avoid becoming a mere figurehead, the association says it needs greater legitimacy through a larger membership as well as donations, which fund its office, its actions and its staff. The association is governed by a board of directors that includes lawyers, an accountant and other professionals, several of them founding members, and its work is reinforced by an executive director. People can support the association by becoming members or by making a donation.
