Scottish Wildlife Trust

Description

The Scottish Wildlife Trust is a charity dedicated to conserving the wildlife and natural environment of Scotland.

It champions wildlife through policy work and campaigning, demonstrates practical conservation through partnerships, and runs education and engagement activities to inspire people to take action for nature. It manages a network of over 100 wildlife reserves across Scotland, including visitor centres such as Loch of the Lowes and Montrose Basin. Its projects include Cumbernauld Living Landscape, Living Seas, Riverwoods and Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels, and it was a lead partner in a trial reintroduction of the Eurasian beaver to Scotland.

It is a member of the UK-wide Wildlife Trusts movement. It was formed in April 1964, employed its first member of staff in 1965, and acquired its first reserve in 1966. It works across Scotland’s land and seas.
