The Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center is a nonprofit human rights advocacy organization that pursues strategic litigation and education to hold governments and businesses accountable.

Its team of attorneys, advocates, entrepreneurs and writers works with international and domestic partners to protect fundamental human rights. Lawyers confront systemic problems through litigation and advocacy aimed at structural change, working alongside grassroots partners in the United States and around the world. The organization also promotes a social good approach to business and educates students and teachers on human rights through curricula and community engagement.

It works with a network of partners and global affiliates that provide teaching, training and assistance to human rights defenders across Europe and beyond, coordinating projects against systemic racism, discrimination and violence. It recognizes human rights work through the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award, the Ripple of Hope Award, and book and journalism awards honoring writers and reporters covering human rights and social justice.

The organization traces its origin to the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial, established in Washington, D.C. in 1968 to carry on the public service of Senator Robert Kennedy and his wife Ethel after his assassination. It is led by human rights lawyer Kerry Kennedy, Robert Kennedy’s daughter.
