Iran Human Rights

Description

Iran Human Rights, also called IHRNGO, is a non-profit, non-partisan organization working on human rights in Iran, with members inside and outside the country.

It is based in Oslo, Norway. It began as a network of Iranian and non-Iranian human rights defenders in 2005 and was registered in Norway in 2009, with supporting sections in Italy and Norway. Its main focus is campaigning for the abolition of the death penalty in Iran, and it has published annual reports on executions since 2008.

The organization also monitors the situation of ethnic and religious minorities, women, children, human rights defenders and the environment in Iran. It publishes a Persian language legal magazine and broadcasts a Persian language television program on executions. It documents individual cases, such as those of executed or imprisoned protesters, and publishes annual reports on the treatment of human rights defenders.

It is an elected member of the steering committee of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty. It has also joined other organizations to establish an international tribunal investigating abuses committed during nationwide protests in Iran.
