Right to Clean Air Platform Turkey

Description

Right to Clean Air Platform Turkey is an independent non-governmental coalition working exclusively on air pollution and its health effects in Turkey.

It brings together sixteen professional organisations and NGOs, including medical, environmental and legal groups, that have worked together since 2015. The platform advocates for the right to live in an environment with clean air and aims to protect public health from air pollution, especially from existing and planned coal fired power plants.

It campaigns for reliable air quality measurement, legislation meeting World Health Organization guidelines, inclusion of PM 2.5 limits, more public data, health impact assessments and an end to fossil fuel subsidies. It lobbies parliament, runs public awareness campaigns and publishes reports on air quality and health, such as findings on premature deaths linked to pollution and inadequate monitoring stations. It has campaigned against coal subsidies and for legal limits on fine particulates.
