Description

PODER is a Latin American organization that works to build a citizen movement for corporate transparency and accountability. It seeks to make companies transparent and answerable to society. The group marked its fifteenth anniversary in 2025. It operates across Latin America, focusing on business and human rights.

PODER produces investigative reports and manuals on corporate conduct. Its research has covered the mining, tobacco and gas industries, as well as post-pandemic vaccine supply chains. It also publishes guides on corporate investigation and on beneficial ownership, helping communities and journalists trace who profits from a company. A focus group on business and human rights pushes for stronger corporate accountability rules.

The organization campaigns on environmental justice, most visibly around the Río Sonora mining spill in Mexico. It supports affected communities seeking medical care, reparation and government accountability years after the disaster. PODER also works with regional collectives defending forests and territory against extractive projects. Its work combines investigative journalism, research and advocacy against corporate impunity.
