Philippine Human Rights Information Center

Philippine Human Rights Information Center, known as PhilRights, is a national human rights research and information organization in the Philippines.

It was established in 1991 by the Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates, PAHRA, and serves as that alliance’s research and information center. It holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and is an associated NGO of the United Nations Department of Public Information.

PhilRights produces research on human rights issues such as terrorism, child soldiers, the death penalty, and urban and rural poverty. It tracks trends and publishes situationers and reports on the human rights landscape in the Philippines. It also works on human rights monitoring and documentation, developing standardized tools and building the capacity of other groups to record violations.

The organization runs education and training programs to build knowledge of human rights concepts among organizations, communities, schools and other sectors. It works to strengthen cooperation between local and international human rights networks. PhilRights also helps facilitate access to support and intervention for victims and families affected by human rights violations, alongside its monitoring work.

PhilRights operates in the Philippines and is based in Quezon City.
