Union of Informed Citizens

Description

The Union of Informed Citizens is an Armenian non-governmental organization working on democracy, human rights and media integrity. It was founded in 2014 and is based in Yerevan, with a satellite office in Stepanakert. It works to advance electoral integrity, democratic reform, freedom of the press and human rights in Armenia. It also works to counter misinformation and disinformation.

The organization monitors elections in Armenia and in Artsakh, runs fact-checking projects, and conducts seminars, training programs and fact-finding investigations. It supports the development of stronger relations between Armenia and the European Union. It publishes reports and articles on foreign policy, the Eurasian Economic Union, military cooperation, the economy and energy, and foreign grants to Armenia.

The Union of Informed Citizens partners with organizations such as the European Commission, the European Endowment for Democracy, the National Endowment for Democracy and Open Society Foundations-Armenia. It also cooperates with the EU’s Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. In 2019 it received the OSCE Democracy Defender Award for its work on media transparency and independent journalism.
