Description

The Permaculture Association is a UK charity that promotes the theory and practice of permaculture in Britain and worldwide. It was established as a charity in 1983 and is based in Leeds, England. It connects a diverse network of individuals, groups and projects working on sustainable ways of living and growing food.

The association offers members discounts on events, networking opportunities, project support and a telephone helpline. It keeps a database of grassroots projects and educational organisations, certifies Permaculture Design Courses in the UK and runs a diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. It also supports international projects, including the Permaculture Institute of El Salvador and the Himalayan Permaculture Institute.

It has regional networks, Permaculture Scotland and Paramaethu Cymru, and organises a biennial national gathering of members called a convergence. It hosted the International Permaculture Convergence in London in 2015. Its members and demonstration sites include people across Britain who use permaculture design in gardens, farms and communities.
