Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project

Description

OCCRP, the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, is a nonprofit investigative newsroom based in Amsterdam, with staff across six continents. It was founded by reporters Drew Sullivan and Paul Radu in 2007, growing out of work they began in Eastern Europe in 2003. OCCRP partners with other media outlets to publish cross-border investigations into organized crime and corruption. Its network includes more than seventy media member centers around the world.

The organization reports on topics such as war, climate change, inequality, and threats to democracy, and how crime and corruption fuel them. Beyond publishing its own investigations, OCCRP builds infrastructure for other investigative outlets, offering training, editing, data access, and digital and legal security support. It develops technology such as Aleph Pro, a data platform for searching leaked and public documents, and OCCRP ID, a research tool for tracking people, companies, and assets.

OCCRP runs the Global Anti-Corruption Consortium with Transparency International, linking investigative reporting to advocacy, legal action, and policy reform. It created Reporters Shield, a membership program that defends journalists against strategic lawsuits meant to silence them. Other initiatives include Floodlight, which turns investigative reporting into film, television and games, and the Illicit Finance Data Lab, run with the Anti-Corruption Data Collective to study money laundering and sanctions evasion.
