Fundacja Reporterów

Description

Fundacja Reporterów (the Reporters’ Foundation) is a Polish non-profit organization founded in 2010 by a group of reporters from leading Polish media. For many years it trained and financially supported journalists from Central and Eastern Europe, especially Ukraine, running specialized workshops and giving out the Reporterzy dla reporterów (Reporters for Reporters) award. Care for journalism and reporter education remains part of its philosophy.

Since 2017 it ran the investigative journalism platform VSquare. Since 2018 it was part of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project. Since 2019 it cooperated with the Open Information Partnership. In 2021 it created its Polish-language outlet, FRONTSTORY.PL.

Its projects have been supported by funders including the National Endowment for Democracy, the Global Anti-Corruption Consortium, IJ4EU, the Open Information Partnership, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Journalismfund, Erasmus+ and the Embassy of the Netherlands.

The foundation’s board is led by Wojciech Cieśla and Anna Gielewska. Cieśla is co-founder and president, a journalist of 25 years’ experience and a co-founder of the international journalist collective Investigate Europe. Gielewska is vice-president and co-founder of vsquare.org. She coordinates international investigative projects and focuses on tracking organized disinformation.

Its Foundation Council is chaired by Paweł Reszka, alongside Roman Daszczyński and Zygmunt Miłoszewski. Its newsroom includes editors, fact-checkers and researchers who produce investigative journalism, fact-checking and reporting for FRONTSTORY.PL.
