Observatoire de l'éthique publique

Description

The Observatoire de l’éthique publique is a French research body on public ethics and anti-corruption. It is based in Lille, France.

It organizes national and European conferences, called assises, that bring together researchers, officials and partner universities on topics such as corruption, digital ethics and cybersecurity. One such conference addresses local public ethics for local governments and businesses, aiming to prevent breaches of probity.

The organization publishes research including collective books, position papers and opinion pieces placed in the press. It also issues press releases on subjects such as governmental ethics, the governance of the internet, and ethics oversight within French institutions. One opinion piece examined the ethics of a former state councillor who later worked for a major energy company.

Its conferences have taken place in cities such as Brussels, Nevers and Lyon, often organized with partner universities and local authorities. One collective book grew out of the RESIST research project, examining transparency, ethics and the governance of the internet.
