NVJ is the Dutch association for journalists, based in Amsterdam. It is a membership organisation that manages memberships for journalists. It offers a helpdesk for members with questions about their account, their membership or its terms.

Members with legal questions can get help from lawyers on staff, who maintain confidentiality on privacy-sensitive matters. The organisation frames this as offering legal help and advice through its own jurists.

NVJ issues and renews the NVJ press card for members who hold a full membership and meet the conditions. It also maintains a related overview of its other press cards. Through its NVJ Academy it offers courses. Discounts are available to members, to freelancers who register their KvK number, and to members of the Auteursbond who also hold NVJ membership.

Membership tiers can be changed, transferred to a colleague, or cancelled. Members can update personal details such as address, employer or bank account once logged into their account. Since December 2024 the organisation runs on a new website and requires all users, including existing members, to create a new account with the email address linked to their membership record.
