Description

Netzwerk Recherche e.V. is a registered non-profit journalism association based in Berlin. It was founded in 2001 by journalists for journalists, to strengthen investigative reporting and quality journalism in Germany. Its stated goal is to give journalists the tools, knowledge and networks they need to uncover wrongdoing and conduct thorough research.

It organizes conferences, seminars and funding programmes. It teaches research techniques and investigative journalism, and connects journalists across Germany, Europe and beyond. The association is led by a voluntary board, with day-to-day operations run by a staff team at its office in Berlin.

It defends press freedom as the foundation of an informed and self-determined society. It offers scholarships to support ambitious reporting projects, as well as conferences for professional exchange and critical reflection on journalistic work.

It has around 1,300 members as of 2025. Both working journalists and supporters such as foundations, media companies and individuals can join or contribute, including through a funding board and through donations.
