Manitoba Eco-Network
Description
Manitoba Eco-Network is an environmental non-governmental organization and registered charity based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
It is a regional affiliate of the Canadian Environmental Network and acts as a network of about 50 environmental groups across the province. Its stated goal is to promote positive environmental action by connecting people and groups in Manitoba’s communities. It does not lobby itself and is non-partisan, though some of its member groups do.
It supports its members and the public through projects such as an environmental library, a climate change education initiative, a GIS mapping centre, a water caucus, and a published journal on Manitoba’s environmental issues. It also provides meeting space, holds an annual member forum and environmental awards, and connects volunteers with member groups.
Its steering committee is elected at an annual general meeting from among member groups and individual members. Funding comes from the governments of Manitoba and Canada, foundations, membership fees, donations and fundraising events.
