Ma Dada

Description

Ma Dada is a French platform that lets anyone request public information from public authorities. Each request and the authority’s reply are published on the site. Users can also use it to request access to their own personal data held by public bodies.

The platform runs on the Alaveteli software developed by mySociety. It is operated as a project of the association Open Knowledge France, which was founded in 2013 and promotes the opening of knowledge and public data. Ma Dada launched in 2019 and describes itself as an association independent of any public authority.

Open Knowledge France is governed by a collegial board of about ten members drawn from a community of active members. Ma Dada’s day to day work is carried out by a small team responsible for the project and its technical maintenance. This team is sometimes helped by association members and by users of the platform.

The project has received financial support from mySociety, the NLnet foundation, the French Accélérateur d’initiatives citoyennes run by DINUM, and the European Union’s NGI Search program, alongside individual donations, including from La Quadrature du Net. It also receives free legal support from a Paris lawyer and free hosting from Gandi. Ma Dada helps journalists and citizens obtain public documents and campaigns for the right of access to information in France.
