Liga voor Mensenrechten
Description
Liga voor Mensenrechten (League for Human Rights) is a human rights movement in Belgium. It says it inspires policy and informs and sensitizes the wider public critically about human rights in Flanders and Belgium.
The organization has worked since 1979 to build a free and open society with human rights for everyone. It invites the public to support that mission through donations, membership and volunteering.
The organization does not provide individual legal help itself. For legal assistance, it refers people to a Justitiehuis or to a lawyer. For questions about asylum and immigration law, it refers people to the Agentschap Integratie en Inburgering or to Myria, the federal migration centre. For complaints about discrimination and racism, it refers people to Unia, and for other questions and problems, to a local CAW welfare centre.
Its thematic areas include freedom and security, privacy, detention, discrimination and policing. The organization is based in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek.
