Human Rights Organizations United States

Description

The Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice is a nonprofit that continues the legacy of Congressman Tom Lantos, a Holocaust survivor and longtime human rights advocate in the United States Congress.

It advocates for the United States and other democratic nations to prioritize human rights for people worldwide. It runs campaigns and initiatives to raise awareness of key human rights challenges. It also supports and empowers people working on the frontlines of human rights struggles.

The foundation focuses on four areas. It works for free exercise of religion, conscience and belief for all people. It confronts regimes that repress their own citizens. It recognizes and honors individuals and organizations that uphold universal human rights and promote global unity.

The foundation also serves as a living memorial to Tom Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor to serve in the United States Congress. It is based in Concord, New Hampshire, and maintains an office in Washington, DC.
